Tweens, Teens and Adult Learners
Our Tweens (9-12), Teens (13-16) and Adult (17+) lessons are held for beginners, improvers, advanced, fitness, stroke technique and speed development.
We understand not everyone learns to swim from a young age and we wouldn't expect our tweens or teens to enter our regular learn to swim programme. Instead we cater for beginners from 9years and above who haven't yet reached their swimming goals.
Beginners
It’s never too learn to start swimming! There are also many health and therapeutic effects of swimming or simply being in the water for relaxation. At Carol Saunders Swim School we have numerous experience and qualified staff on hand, you can be introduced to the water at your own pace. As an Tween, Teen or Adult beginner, the Teachers are in the water with you at all times. You can have group classes with friends or smaller 1:2's of 1:1's; the choice is yours.
The important thing to know is that you are not alone.
- 138,000 children (almost one in four) cannot swim the statutory 25 metres when they leave primary school.
- National curriculum guidelines indicate that children should be able to swim 25 metres unaided by the time they leave primary school.
- The data shows that 77 per cent of Year 7 (first year of secondary school, age 11-12) children can do this. This only increases slightly to 81 per cent by Year 11 (age 15-16).
- One in five adults across the country cannot swim
